Sujansky & Associates managed the interfacing of several clinical laboratories with an EHR system used by multiple physician practices in Tulare and Kings Counties, California. A hospital laboratory, clinic laboratory, and national reference laboratory needed to standardize their lab-reporting formats and workflows to interoperate with the eClinicalWorks centralized lab-reporting hub that was shared by these practices. We analyzed the data models and I.T. infrastructures of the labs and the EHR vendor, and we managed the process for consolidating the varied representations of lab test results across these environments. The resulting system enables independent physician practices to receive and integrate test results from any of the laboratories via a central lab-reporting hub and standard messaging format. This project required five months of close collaboration with a number of healthcare facilities and I.T. vendors.
